Miraculously, we had eight ladies enter our wonderfl 2009 Contest and Challenge!
If you recall, you voted in the spring for your choice of Challenge Theme! We had a tie between Under the Sea, and Grandmother's flower garden. We had exactly four entries for each Challenge/Contest.
Though we sent out many challenge packages, we had only four turn in entries for each Challenge/Contest. These ladies are to be commended for their perseverence, and the courage it takes to compete.
Our customers come from many different backgrounds, and some are far more experienced stitchers than others. This will of course affect the outcome of the contest itself, but I remind you that each and every entry is a victory for it's maker!
Every single one is a lovely work of art and their makers deserve our admiration and congratulations!
I want all of you to realize how difficult it is to judge a contest like this! I've been looking over these pictures now for a month or more, and each has excellent points! I can fairly hear the beating of every entrant's heart, in anticipation of the results of the contest - this is HARD to do!
I asked for a little help from my staff and others on their favorites, and what they found appealing about them. I will also be putting up a voting page so you can all vote for your favorites in each category, and hopefully give us a comment about why you enjoyed that particular entry.
I really hope you will participate in this voting, because the winner of this voting will be our Customer's Choice winner, and will receive an additional $25.00 Gift Certificate from Evening Star Designs!
Our Winners this year!
First Place Under the Sea:
I have to pronounce a tie between Geraldine Nehl and Carolyn Burrough
Each of these fine Crazy Quilters used a completely different approach to this Challenge. Both entries are full of innovation, creativity and a real knack for using embellishment materials and fabrics to create an undersea fantasy world populated with fantastic creatures, stitches and shapes - I know you will enjoy going over every square inch of these beautiful entries! Both Geraldine and Carolyn will be awarded a $100.00 Gift Certificate for winning this year's Under the Sea Contest! Please join me in congratulating them both!
First Place Grandmother's Flower Garden:
I have to pronounce a tie between Heather Brighton and Kim Boldt
These quilts absolutely stunned me with their hard work, attention to detail, creative decorations and hand work, plus their accomplished stitching! You will love them - they are both, again, very different - and both deserving of this award!
Both Heather and Kim will be awarded a $100.00 Gift Certificate from Evening Star Designs for winning this year's Grandmother's Flower Garden Contest! Please assist me in giving them our most sincere congratulations!
As I mentioned earlier, each and every entrant is to be congratulated on their entry! Julie Hocking, Mirabai Schramm, Darlene Doerscher Jastrzebski, and Martha Anderton will all receive $25.00 Gift Certificates from Evening Star Designs for entering their beautiful and very well done entries!
Congratulations to you all on a fine Contest!
